It features Manueline architecture and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nearby, the Monument to the Discoveries honors key 15th and 16th-century explorers, celebrating Henry the Navigator's 500th death anniversary with a caravel and significant figures from that time. Castelo de São Jorge, an 11th-century Moorish castle, offers panoramic views of Lisbon and serves as a cultural center with preserved architecture, exhibits, and gardens. These sites reflect Portugal's rich heritage and maritime history.
